Compressed air generation accounts for approximately 10 percent of all the electricity used in industry. This was stated by Chairman SITE Association of Trade and Industry Mohammad Irfan Moton while speaking at a seminar held at the association to highlight the importance of compressed air and industrial efficiency.
He said that with energy costs only set to increase further plus a growing requirement for sustainable manufacturing, companies were increasingly looking for new technologies to help lower their energy costs and their carbon footprint. It is a matter of life and death for the country's manufacturing sector to control its energy cost if it is to retain its position in exports, he added.
Chris Goldworthy, an expert, gave a lecture on the selection and use of air compressors and detailed the factors, which control lifetime ownership costs of air compressor installations. He also threw light on the selection criteria for air compressors, service and spares considerations, efficient piping systems, pressure, filtration and humidity requirements peculiar to each installation.
The seminar was organised by Pakistan's leading air compressor distributor, Rastgar & Co who distributes CompAir, Quantima, Hydrovane and Reavell compressors in Pakistan. Speaking on the occasion, CEO Rastgar & Co Maqsood Zulfqar gave an outline of the training facilities provided for engineers and technical staff in Pakistan and abroad. He also informed about the sales, spares and air audit services provided by the company.-PR
