Pakistan releases two Indian High Commission officials on FO intervention
- Both men were arrested on June 15 for their involvement in a hit-and-run accident
(Karachi) Two Indian High Commission officials who were involved in a hit-and-run incident in Islamabad have been released and sent back to India by authorities, media has reported.
As per details, the two officials identified as Dwimu Brahma and Paul Selvadhas, were released and sent back to India via the Wagah border crossing after intervention by Foreign Office. Both officials were accompanied by the second secretary of the Indian Embassy and the air attache, who have been summoned to New Delhi for consultations on the current Pak-India tension.
Brahma and Selvadhas had arrived in the country in 2017 and were reportedly performing their duties as drivers in Indian High Commission.
Islamabad police nabs two Indian High Commission officials
On June 15, Islamabad police arrested two Indian High Commission officials after a road accident.
The two officials were involved in a hit-and-run accident in which a person suffered critical injuries. The police stated that the officials were overspeeding when the accident occurred.
After the incident, the two Indian officials tried to escape from the spot. However, the police chased the accused and managed to arrest them. The police also seized counterfeit currency from their possession. Later, a case was registered against them.
