KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) on Tuesday rejected the budget presented by Sindh government for 2020-21 terming it 'anti-people' which neglected urban parts of the province.
Addressing a press conference, deputy convener Kanwar Naveed Jameel along with members of coordination committee said Karachi which is paying the highest amount of taxes, is not getting its due share in the provincial budget which is a continuity of ruling Pakistan People's Party (PPP) policies of overlooking urban centers of the province.
"Urban centres of Sindh have been facing the negligence for at least last twelve years despite contributing most to the economy," said Jameel.
The MQM leader added that the Sindh government has not given any special development package for Karachi despite contributing seventy percent in federal exchequer and ninety percent in provincial kitty.
He was of the view that PPP-led Sindh government is taking the revenge from the people of Karachi for not voting in its favour in election.
He said local government in Karachi is facing acute shortage of funds as it has no money to pay salaries or of employees.
The party leader stated that MQM-P has totally rejected 'this anti-people budget' presented by the Sindh government. Jameel appealed to federal government for playing its role in the matters of Karachi and also appealed to the president, prime minister and army chief to take notice of excesses committed to Karachi.
