The Karachi Port handled 128,409 tonnes of cargo comprising 83,894 tonnes of import cargo and 44,515 tonnes of export cargo including 3,567 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 83,894 tonnes comprised of 24,492 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,911 tonnes of general cargo; 14,700 tonnes of bulk cargo and 42,791 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 44,515 tonnes comprised of 25,798 tonnes of containerised cargo; 137 tonnes of general cargo; 8,280 tonnes of bulk cargo and 10,300 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. A total number of 3,567 containers comprising 1,470 containers import and 2,097 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. Two ships sailed out to sea on Friday, while ten ships are expected to sail on Saturday. Three vessels due to arrive on Friday, while fifteen vessels are due to arrive on Saturday.
The total import cargo of 35,471 tonnes includes 4,156 tonnes of edible oil; 10,159 tonnes of chemicals; 51 tonnes of bitumen and 21,105 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 13,572 tonnes includes 2,106 tonnes of cement and 11,466 tonnes of containerised cargo. Two ships namely CV MSC Namibia-II, CV Belgica and MT Karachi with containers and furnace oil sailed out to sea on Friday morning.
A total number of six vessels viz CV MSC Namibia-II, CV Belgica, MV Salta, MV Cyrus-1, MV Siva Mumbai and Golden Dynasty are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, bitumen, chemicals and edible oil respectively during last 24 hours. As many as three ships Safmarine Ngami, Chemroad Sea and MT Karachi with containers, edible oil and furnace oil respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. A total number of two vessels viz CV Safmarine Ngami and MT Karachi with containers and furnace oil respectively are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Friday.
