Karachi's South zone to undergo smart lockdown for two weeks
- DC says lockdown is being imposed after reports of increasing coronavirus cases in the affected areas
(Karachi) The district South administration has decided to impose a smart lockdown in different areas of the city including Civil Lines, Garden, Arambagh, Lyari and Saddar. The lockdown will be imposed for two weeks.
As per details, District South deputy commissiner announced on Friday that the lockdown is being imposed after reports of increasing coronavirus cases in the affected areas.
Pakistan's COVID-19 cases cross 100,000 mark
The areas that would be sealed include commercial areas in Khayaban-i-Rahat, Civil Lines, Block 4, Clifton, Bath Island, Block 5, Clifton, all the areas between Khayaban-e-Saadi and Khayaban-e-lqbal and between Bank Road and Neher-e-Khayyam, including all businesses, Khori Garden Market, Kharadar, Arambagh, Machi Miyani Market, Kharadar, Arambagh, Bazarta Lane and parts of Lyari.
On Friday, at least 1,496 new Covid-19 cases were reported in Sindh, taking the tally to 90,721. Coronavirus claimed lives of 22 more patients as the death toll reached 1,459 in the province.
Besides, 38,354 patients are under treatment in Sindh, while condition of 653 of them is critical. So far, 50,908 people have recovered from the disease.
