NEPRA to hold public hearing against KE tomorrow
- Since last month, K Electric has started a series of unannounced and unannounced load-shedding under the pretext of furnace oil and gas supply, which has left the citizens helpless amid soaring temperatures.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has announced to hold a public hearing against K Electric unannounced load shedding in Karachi on Friday.
Since last month, K Electric has started a series of unannounced and unannounced load-shedding under the pretext of furnace oil and gas supply, which has left the citizens helpless amid soaring temperatures.
It was also complained by the citizens that despite the power outage for hours, high bills are being collected by the power utility.
In this situation, NEPRA has announced an open court on unannounced load shedding.
According to NEPRA officials, due to the coronavirus pandemic, participants in the court can come to the zoom link, in addition to the number given on the NEPRA website, one can also attend or citizens can also complain to NEPRA e-mail. All interested stakeholders and the general public may participate in the hearing to share their views/comments regarding load shedding positions in Karachi.
It may be recalled that last month, NEPRA had also taken notice of unannounced load shedding and alleged high electricity bills by K Electric.
Recently, the PTI and MQM leadership protested outside the offices of KE and asked the federal government to end the exclusivity of KE in the city and allow other companies to operate.
