KARACHI: The Contingency Intelligence & Response Agency (CIRA) has appointed Zafar Aziz Osmani, respected business catalyst as Country Lead for Pakistan, mandated to lead the Pakistani Chapter of the South Asian Corporate Advisory Council or SACAC. Osmani is also the CEO for Excelerate Private Limited.

Born as a response to the UN's call for active involvement of the corporate world in support of governments in disaster prevention, mitigation and management, SACAC consists of some of the most respected captains of industry from each country of the South Asian region. Commissioned to lend impetus to CIRA, a think-tank and catalyst for an overarching disaster response mechanism bringing scientific research, international cooperation and private sector resources together in support of the governments to be 'crisis-ready', SACAC will ensure an unwavering commitment from the business community to the people of South Asia.

CIRA believes its mission as a catalyst of change will impact the lives of millions of people as it advocates for an equitable society and a greener planet, seen as an integral link to disaster mitigation.

Developing global and national events mute testimony to the all-important need for disaster preparedness by way of an all-encompassing strategy which governments alone cannot do and calls for wider involvement, as per the Sendai Framework of the UN on disaster mitigation. Contingency Intelligence & Response Agency (CIRA) was born out of a crisis as the new Corona pandemic exposed fatal deficiencies in disaster preparedness around the world, highlighting the urgent need for a research-based response deep diving into every conceivable aspect of public administration, culminating in a well-equipped framework for disaster prevention, mitigation and management. SACAC will, as the backbone for CIRA, serve as a role-model to the international community in just how the business sector should take a leading role in disaster mitigation through the scope of sustainable development goals.

That the region's business leaders are coming together in South Asia's hour of need is considered a milestone and CIRA believes that the day every top organization in the region rallying together for one quarter of the world's population is when we know South Asia is truly on the way to achieving the UN's sustainable development goals.-PR
