ISLAMABAD: Confirmed coronavirus cases in Pakistan have reached 261,201 with 5,505 deaths and 183,754 recoveries, Covid-19 latest data released by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) and provincial authorities revealed.

According to official figures, total Covid-19 cases in the Punjab reached 89,023, in Sindh 111,238, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) 31,486, Balochistan 11,385, Federal Capital Islamabad 14,445, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) 1,840, and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) 1,775.

In Punjab 2,059 people have died of Covid-19, Sindh has reported 1,952 deaths, KP 1,124, Balochistan 128, AJK 46, and GB 36. According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab, the province has recorded 484 new virus cases and eight new deaths. The provincial tally is now 89,023, while the death toll is 2,059. The number of recovered cases in Punjab has reached 64,815.

Sindh has reported 1,170 new coronavirus cases and 30 deaths during the past 24 hours, Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah in a statement said. The statement said 10,299 tests were carried out during the last 24 hours. With the new cases, the provincial total has risen to 111,238, while the death toll is 1,952.

The KP has registered 269 new Covid-19 cases taking the total to 31,486. According to KP Health Department, the province has recorded the lowest daily death toll since May as during past 24 hours, it has reported four deaths taking the total to 1,124. While 353 more patients have recovered taking the tally to 22,613.

Balochistan has reported 63 new cases of the novel coronavirus, raising the tally in the province to 11,385. The provincial health department also confirmed the death of one more person due to the virus, taking the death toll to 128.

Islamabad and the federal territories collectively recorded 109 new cases and two new deaths, the official Covid-19 portal said. The capital reported 52 new cases, while Gilgit-Baltistan recorded 25 new infections. The Azad Jammu and Kashmir has reported 32 new cases. Both Islamabad and the GB recorded one death each, while no casualty was recorded in the AJK.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister's Special Assistant on National Health and Regulations who was tested Covid-19 positive on July 5th now is in stable condition and will go for next test within next couple of days, a spokesperson of the Health Ministry said when contacted.
