PESHAWAR: Prices of all essential kitchen items have been increased significantly ahead of Eidul Azha, reveals a survey conducted by Business Recorder here on Sunday.

Retailers and wholesalers from different markets of the Peshawar have increased the prices of all essential kitchen items, including tomatoes, potatoes, onions, garlic, sugar, wheat flour bag and milk (fresh) last week as compared to the preceding week.

During the visit to local market by this scribe, it was witnessed that tomatoes were being sold at Rs 100-120 per kg against Rs 60 per kg week past price, reflecting an increase of Rs 60 per kg, onions were available at Rs 80 per kg against Rs 60 per kg week past price, reflecting an increase of Rs 20 per kg, potatoes were being sold at Rs 90-100 per kg against Rs 65 per kg last week, registering an increase of Rs 35 per kg, garlic was being sold at Rs 300-350 per kg, wheat flour bag (20 kg) was available at Rs 900-1000 and Rs1150 per bag and milk fresh was being sold at Rs 140 per litre last week as compared to the preceding week.

Sugar price was increased by Rs 10 per kg and was available at Rs 90 per kg against Rs 80 per kg week past price.

Peas are being sold at Rs 250 per kilogramme, arvi was available at Rs 120 per kilogramme, cauliflower was being sold at Rs 80-100 per kilogramme against the price of Rs 50 per kilogramme in the previous week, the survey revealed.

Capsicum at Rs 100-120 per kilogramme, while ladyfinger is being sold at Rs 120-130 per kilogramme. Cucumber is being sold at Rs 60-70 per kilogramme. Lemon was available at Rs 160 per kilogramme, onion at Rs 70-80 per kilogramme.

Cabbage was available at Rs60 per kilogramme, Bringle is being sold at Rs 80 per kilogramme. Green chilli is being sold at Rs 120 per kilogramme against the price of Rs 150 per kilogramme in the previous week. Bringle was available at Rs60 per kilogramme. Turnip is being sold at Rs40-50 per kilogramme.

The survey witnessed the prices of pulses and food grains remained high-side in the retail market. For instance, good quality rice (sela) was available at Rs 160 per kilogramme. Tota rice is being sold at Rs 70-80 per kilogramme. Price of red bean is being sold at Rs 220-250 per kilogramme, dal mash at Rs 260-270 per kilogramme.

Big-size white channa is being sold at Rs 180-200 per kilogramme against the price of Rs 160 per kilogramme, while white lobiya was available within range of Rs 160-170 and Rs 180 per kilogramme.

The upward trend in prices of flour was witnessed in the local market, as 20 kg flour bag was available at Rs 1100-1150, showing an increase of Rs 200-300 per bag.

Fresh milk is being sold at Rs 140 from Rs130 per litre against the official fixed price of Rs 90 per litre, while yogurt was available at Rs 130-140 per kilogramme against the official fixed price of Rs80 per kilogramme, the survey noticed.

According to the survey, the price of live chicken/ meat was available at Rs 201 per kilogramme, farm eggs are being sold at Rs 120-130 perdozen. However, the price of cow meat remained unchanged as Rs 450-500 per kilogramme, whereas mutton beef was available at Rs 1000-1100 per kilogramme.
