KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 138,464 tonnes of cargo comprising 98,187 tonnes of import cargo and 40,277 tonnes of export cargo including 4,631 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargos of 98,187 tonnes comprised of 28,354 tonnes of containerised cargo; 235 tonnes of general cargo; 5,164 tonnes of bulk cargo; and 64,434 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 40,277 tonnes comprised of 22,840 tonnes of containerised cargo; 14,437 tonnes of bulk cargo and 3,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 4,631 containers comprising of 2,898 containers of import and 1,733 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 408 of 20's and 736 of 40's loaded while 52 of 20's and 483 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 645 of 20's and 376 of 40's loaded containers while 146 of 20's and 95 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were four ships namely TRF Partici, Diyala, Dang Phu and Xin Hai Tong carrying containers, cement and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were five vessels carrying containers and cement respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 156,310 tonnes comprising of 148,710 tonnes of import cargo and 7,600 tonnes of export cargo including 1,930 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 148,710 tonnes includes 45,292 tonnes of coal; 18,000 tonnes of palm oil; 45,238 tonnes of gas oil; 6,500 tonnes of soyabean; 3,000 tonnes of chemical; 1,610 tonnes of project cargo and 29,070 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 7,600 tonnes includes 7,600 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 1,930 containers comprising of 1,530 containers import and 400 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

There were two ships namely Green Witch Eagle and Berge Tronador carrying coal sail out to sea on Tuesday morning, while three ships namely MSC Ishyka, Gas Ionian and Al-Soor-II carrying containers, chemical and gas oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eleven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, project cargo, coal, soyabean, chemical, LPG, LNG, gas oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as fourteen vessels viz. MSC Busan, Silver Lucky, Gwan, Chayanee Naree, Cariboo, Stove Ocean, White Fin, Tiger Winter, White Purl, Till Jocob, BW Amazon, Al-Salam-II, Gulf Horizon and Marvel carrying containers, general cargo, steel coil, project cargo, coal, cement, chemical, LPG, mogas, gas oil and furnace oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were five ships viz. MSC Busan, Maersk Kinloss, Cariboo, White Purl and Marvel carrying containers, coal, LPG and furnace oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Tuesday.

There was one ship namely Maersk Kinloss carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
