ISLAMABAD: The nationwide coronavirus infections have reached 280,282 with 5,992 deaths, 1,038 people in critical condition, and 248,873 recoveries, data released by the federal and provincial authorities said.
According to the data, Sindh with 121,705 Covid-19 cases is on top of the table followed by Punjab with 93,197, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) with 34,253 cases, the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) 15,076 cases, Balochistan 11,774 cases, Azad Jammu and Kashmir 2,193 cases, and Gilgit-Baltistan with 2,180 cases.
According to a press note issued by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab, the province so far has registered 93,197 individuals infected with Covid-19.
Of which 24 new coronavirus cases have been detected in the past 24 hours by conducting 3,554 tests, while four more people have died of the virus in the last 24 hours.
According to the PDMA Punjab, so far, the province has lost 2,148 lives due to Covid-19, while 82,563 people have recovered in the province.
Sindh reported 219 new Covid-19 cases during the past 24 hours and two deaths from the Covid-19.
With the surfacing of 219 new cases in Sindh, the provincial tally has reached 121,705, according to Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.
Two more people have died of the disease, with the overall provincial death toll rising to 2,226.
A total of 4,484 tests were carried out during the last 24 hours, according to Shah.
According to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Health Department, the province has reported 30 new coronavirus cases and six deaths during the past 24 hours.
This is the lowest single-day rise in Covid-19 cases since April 7, when the province reported 27 cases.
So far 34,253 cases and 1,208 deaths have been reported in the province.
Among the six deaths, three in Abbottabad, two in Peshawar and one Haripur, which have taken the provincial death toll to 1,208, while 135 more patients have recovered from the virus.
So far, a total of 29,150 people have recovered in the KP, while 3,895 cases are active.
The Balochistan government has decided to extend the province-wide smart lockdown enforced to curb the spread of the coronavirus till August 17.
According to the notification, during the time the lockdown is in place, there will be a ban on gathering of more than 10 people, sit-ins and processions at public places
More than two people will not be allowed to travel in the same car.
All people will have to wear a mask or cover their faces with a piece of cloth in public places.
