ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi Thursday announced publishing of "Foreign Ministers Honors List" to honour Pakistanis across the globe who rendered outstanding services during the Covid-19 pandemic. The foreign minister announced this during a ceremony presided over by him at the Foreign Ministry.
He said that "Foreign Ministers Honors List" includes 86 Pakistanis from around the world and they had been selected under various categories. The first category includes the martyrs who continued to serve humanity without caring for their lives and laid down their lives, he said, adding that the second category includes health workers, doctors who have saved precious human lives by rendering exemplary services.
The third category includes individuals who have been heavily involved in relief efforts during the coronavirus pandemic. The fourth category includes overseas Pakistanis who have worked with Pakistani missions abroad to provide exemplary service to the Pakistani community, and the fifth category includes overseas social organizations that generously helped overseas Pakistanis during the pandemic, he added.
He said that these Pakistanis made the country and the nation proud with their valuable services during the pandemic. He said the ministry will try to launch the "Foreign Minister Honors List" on an annual basis and to honour Pakistanis who have played a significant role in various walks of life around the world.
Meanwhile, Special Representative for Afghanistan Ambassador Muhammad Sadiq also called on Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs who briefed him on the regional security, including the Afghan peace process. Special Representative for Afghanistan Ambassador Muhammad Sadiq gave a detailed briefing to the foreign minister on the current status of the Afghan peace process.
Speaking on the occasion, the foreign minister said that holding inter-Afghan negotiations would help establish lasting peace in Afghanistan. He said that restoration of peace in Afghanistan would pave the way for peace and stability in the entire region. He said that Pakistan would continue to play its conciliatory role for peace and stability in the region, including in Afghanistan.
