KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 53,539 tonnes of cargo comprising 40,929 tonnes of import cargo and 12,610 tonnes of export cargo including 1,506 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargos of 40,929 tonnes comprised of 11,541 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,668 tonnes of general cargo; 5,222 tonnes of bulk cargo; and 19,498 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 12,610 tonnes comprised of 4,101 tonnes of containerised cargo and 8,509 tonnes of bulk cargo.
As many as 1,506 containers comprising of 910 containers of import and 596 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 258 of 20's and 317 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 09 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 39 of 20's and 137 of 40's loaded containers while 01 of 20's and 141 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Cosco Rotterdam, Erving, Botany Bay, Argent Iris and Khairpur carrying containers, oil tanker and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were three vessels carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 175,237 tonnes comprising of 137,910 tonnes of import cargo and 37,297 tonnes of export cargo including 3,246 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 137,910 tonnes includes 50,000 tonnes of furnace oil; 29,098 tonnes of coal; 18,000 tonnes of palm oil; 1,369 tonnes of project cargo; 1,100 tonnes of LPG; 13,996 tonnes of chemical and 24,377 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 37,297 tonnes includes 37,297 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,246 containers comprising of 1,283 containers import and 1,963 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There were two ships namely MSC Esthi and Navig-8 Aventurine carrying containers and chemical respectively sail out to sea on Thursday morning, while another ship namely Maersk Sentosa carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eight ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, chemical, LPG, project cargo, furnace oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as fourteen vessels viz. MOL Graneur, CMA CGM Medra, Maersk Bogar, JBO Sapphire, African Baza, Kamari, Gas Zeus, Tomson Gas, Sovereign, BW Colombia, Al-Salam-II, Al-Soor-II, Four Sky and Silver Hague carrying containers, coal, cement, LPG, gasoline, gas oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were six ships viz. MOL Graneur, CMA CGM Medra, Sphene, Al-Yasat, Gas Zaus and Al-Deebal carrying containers, coal, LPG and LNG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There were three ships namely Sphene, Al-Yasat and Al-Deebal carrying containers, coal and LNG respectively due to arrive on Thursday.
There is one ship namely Conti Courage carrying containers due to arrive on Friday, while two more ships namely Esperonza and Maersk Bogar carrying containers are due to arrive on Sunday.
