ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Secretary Information Marriyum Aurangzeb on Monday strongly condemned the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) summon to party leader, Hanif Abbasi, describing it as part of the government's alleged political victimisation.
"The "NAB-Niazi alliance" is on a mission to target and persecute those who served the people of Pakistan. The questionnaire sent to Hanif Abbasi by the NAB is riddled with self contradictions and is ridiculous at best," the PML-N spokesperson said, while reacting to the NAB's summon to Abbasi, who appeared before the bureau on Monday.
The NAB Lahore office had summoned Abbasi in an alleged corruption case relating to the corruption in the Sports Board Punjab, and also sent him a questionnaire comprising 20 queries.
"The Supreme Court, Islamic Ideological Council, bar associations and the people of Pakistan have already issued their notice of no-confidence against NAB. This "NAB-Niazi alliance" has written a new history of mocking accountability and setting new records of political victimisation in the country," she maintained.
She further stated: "The "unholy" alliance of petty, prejudice-marred, shallow-minded vengeful Imran Khan and his political hit-squad NAB even has issues over steps taken to promote healthy sports in the country."
She stated that the prime minister and his government "can never scare Nawaz Sharif's team."
She added that Hanif Abbasi was a loyal and fearless soldier and companion of Nawaz Sharif.
"He [Abbasi] has always braved all hardships and challenges and has come out as a victor, which he will again," she added.
She said that Abbasi would continue to serve the people of Rawalpindi with every opportunity he gets.
"Hanif Abbasi worked day and night under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif for the successful completion of the Metro Project and the Cardiology Hospital," she added.
