ISLAMABAD: Qatar has expressed keenness for enhanced investment in Pakistan and further strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. This was conveyed to Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi by Ambassador of the State of Qatar Sheikh Saoud bin Abdul Rehman Al-Thani who paid a courtesy call on him here on Monday, according to the Foreign Office.
Views were also exchanged on regional and global developments, it added. In a statement, the Foreign Office said that the Qatari ambassador also conveyed Qatar's interest in enhanced investments in Pakistan. Highlighting the excellent relationship between the leadership of the two countries, it added that the ambassador underlined that the State of Qatar would continue to work with Pakistan for further strengthening bilateral relations.
"Ambassador Saoud conveyed warm greetings from the Qatari leadership to the Pakistani leadership," it stated, adding that he discussed Qatar's plan to enhance bilateral cooperation in myriad fields and undertake educational projects in Pakistan.
While appreciating the close fraternal ties between Pakistan and Qatar, the foreign minister discussed ways and means of enhancing the existing economic cooperation, investment in food security and other sectors. Foreign Minister Qureshi also underscored the important role played by Qatar in the Afghan peace process. He also congratulated the ambassador on assuming his responsibilities and assured him of the ministry's cooperation and support.
