KARACHI: Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar on Wednesday said that the city which pays Rs300 billion tax has been destroyed; local issues of the people are not being resolved.

The Mayor said that Karachi's population was shown as 15 million which is half of its actual figures, terming it injustice with the port city. "Chief Justice of Pakistan himself said that Karachi's population is around 35 million. The people who are in power should take notice of injustice being done with Karachi as the resources are disbursed as per population," he added.
Akhtar asked that how would issues of the city be resolved when it's not getting resources as per its population, adding that they were trying their best to deliver despite having limited resources. He said that the people were already hit hard by inflation but civic issues including water scarcity, collapsed sewerage system and lack of transport added to their miseries.
