LETTER: Why has the PTI government created a kind of euphoria over its so-called 'excellent' performance in two years following the 2018 general elections? Almost all the ministers have heaped lavish praise on the roles that they have been playing towards the development of the country. They have been 'apprising' the media on a regular basis about the performance of their respective ministries, the government's achievements, and the austerity measures taken over the past two years under Prime Minister Imran Khan's leadership.

That all of them, including the prime minister, have failed to deliver is a fact. Unfortunately, however, they even have the gall to allow themselves a lot of self-praise. This government has, in fact, demonstrated almost unbelievable incompetence in its handling of the challenges facing the country. More importantly, President Arif Alvi, too, was all praise for the prime minister and his cabinet colleagues, although he was required to present an objective perspective on the government's performance.

Shahid Riaz (Lahore)
