ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Friday said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice-President Maryam Nawaz had hurled stones at the party President Shehbaz Sharif's politics, and not at the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
While addressing an inauguration ceremony of a girls' college in Rawalpindi, Rashid said Maryam Nawaz trapped Shehbaz Sharif and very soon the leader of the opposition would face the dire consequences of Maryam's politics.
Rashid maintained that the federal government was going to move court to declare former premier Nawaz Sharif an absconder. Commenting on the Pakistan People's Party (PPP)'s Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, he said that the PPP chairman was still a child, and the opposition would undergo accountability.
He said those who were being interrogated by the anti-corruption watchdog were giving statements against it. Rashid also talked about Pak-Saudi relations, saying that the relations between both the states were not affected.
He said PM Imran Khan would not give NRO to anyone, and Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar was not going anywhere. Responding to a question, he said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government would complete its full five-year term. He said the government was striving to check inflation and unemployment.
The government has imported wheat, he said, adding, sugar would also be imported to bring the prices of the commodity down. The step would help control prices of essential commodities, he added. He also said the prices of flour and sugar would soon start reducing as the government had devised a viable strategy to give relief to the masses.
"Several projects regarding progress of social sector have been completed in Rawalpindi and new educational institutes have been built in the city," he said. He also said priority was given to the health of mother and child.
"We are ready to build an international university," the federal minister said.
"Five new universities will be made in Rawalpindi and two new colleges will be added during this or the upcoming year. Former governments did nothing for the education sector."
"Main Line-1 project is a huge project. Our government has finalized a plan to build biggest railway related university of the Subcontinent in Rawalpindi, and people from across the globe will come here to get an education. I wrote a book during the coronavirus pandemic, which will be launched on September 6th," he claimed.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the minister said, third floor of the college building would also be constructed to start postgraduate classes within the shortest possible time frame. He said that he had started the public service journey by establishing schools, colleges and universities particularly in middle class areas in Rawalpindi.
