LETTER: It is quite amazing that Congress party is in such a profound turmoil since its defeat in the 2014 general election. Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi offering to resign after a dissent letter says it all. She is said to have taken this decision after almost two dozen top leaders called for better decision-making in the party, which has been described by many analysts as a rare challenge to the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty that has dominated Congress the Partition of sub-continent in 1947.

Sonia Gandhi has taken the right step with a view to addressing growing despondency in party's leader who seem to have conveyed to her the sentiments of the rank and file of the Congress. It is about time Congress reinvented itself to effectively deal with BJP/RSS combine which has dealt it heavy defeats in two general elections.

Noted Indian political analyst Ashutosh has offered a very interesting perspective on this development. According to him, for example, "Sonia Gandhi is the biggest hindrance in the path of Rahul Gandhi. She must leave him alone. Once alone, he will either swim or sink. But if she continues to indulge in backseat driving, then Rahul Gandhi and the Congress will sink for sure. ..." I agree with his argument.
