KARACHI: A cargo volume of 137,393 tonnes comprising of 118,716 tonnes of import cargo and 18,677 tonnes of export cargo including 3,031 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The total import cargo of 118,716 tonnes includes 35,500 tonnes of gasoline; 28,927 tonnes of coal; 3,017 tonnes of LPG; 6,120 tonnes of palm oil; 900 tonnes of canola; 5,250 tonnes of chemical and 38,912 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 18,677 tonnes includes 18,677 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,031 containers comprising of 2,048 containers import and 983 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. There was one ship namely Valiant Splendor carrying canola sail out to sea on Friday morning, while three more ships namely Royal Chiba, Ithacki and Sereno carrying coal, chemical and gasoline respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eleven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, cement, LPG, gasoline, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as twenty one vessels viz. Han Hui, KSL Don Yang, Huang Song, King Cotton, Jia Yue, Pan Crocus, Nord Magellon, Elim Peace, IVS Swinley Forest, Emden-IV, Kamari, Hasan, Gulf Mews, Chemroad Polris, JBU Opal, Bacco, Palu, Alpine Percefone, Nord Vanus, Al-Soor-II and Sea Hazel carrying general cargo, steel coil, coal, cement, chemical, soyabean, LPG, gasoline, gas oil and crude oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five ships viz. Jei Yue, Bacco, Chemroad Polris, Palu and Sea Hazel carrying coal, soyabean, chemical, LNG and crude oil respectively expected to take berths at Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Friday. There are two ships namely Esperanza-N and Safmarine Nyssa carrying containers due to arrive on Saturday.
