QUETTA: Model Customs Quetta with the collaboration of FC recovered huge quantity of foreign origin goods i.e. betel nuts, pan parag and cigarettes, worth Rs300 million (30 Crore Pak rupees), near the Afghan Border, Sarlat.
According to information, after the strict direction from Federal Government regarding smuggling, a special wave of anti-smuggling operations has been undertaken by member Customs operation. In this regard Chief Collector Balochistan Dr Saifuddin Jonejo and Collector Preventive Irfan Javed gave directives to all anti-smuggling staff. Therefore, Additional Collector Yasir Wahab Kulwar, Deputy Collector Akbar Jan and Assistant Collector Hameer Khan established special anti-smuggling expert team under the leadership of Saleem Mandokhal Superintendent and Inspector Fareed Rind.
After proper vigilance it was observed that few unscrupulous elements were dumping foreign origin goods near Afghan border area of Sarlat, some 22 km away from Nushki. From there Customs along with FC recovered huge quantity, 180,000 kg, of betel nuts, pan parag and cigarettes. The worth of the said goods is said to be around Rs300 million.
This is one of the biggest betel nuts recovery case. This route is called the heaven of betel nuts and pan paraga.
Special customs squads so far have recovered around 10 lakh kilograms of betel nuts during the last 8 months, from January to August 2020.
