ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan said Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif would be held answerable if former prime minister Nawaz Sharif did not return to Pakistan after undergoing medical treatment.

The minister expressed these views while talking to the media along with Parliamentary Secretary for Railways Farrukh Habib, here on Thursday.

He said Shehbaz Sharif had given personal guarantee of Nawaz Sharif's return and it was the responsibility of the person to either bring back the one whose personal guarantee had been given or to present himself.

He said, "Nawaz Sharif should respect the court order and surrender."

Answering a question, he said other political parties should also submit details of their accounts before the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) just like the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

"Everybody is equal before the law. The status quo parties do not want change in the country," he said.

Parliamentary Secretary for Railways Farrukh Habib said everything should be clarified in the party funding case as the PML-N and the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) used party accounts for telegraphic transfer (TTs) and money laundering.

He said the government wanted inspection of the accounts of all the parties.

He said transparent accounts were also the demand of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).

What happened in the past cannot be neglected, he said, while adding that the opposition was blackmailing the government over the FATF laws and wanted Pakistan to get blacklisted.

The parliamentary secretary stressed that the PPP and the PML-N wanted to hide their corruption and evade accountability but the PTI would continue to expose their corruption and irregularities.
