ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Friday decided to file appeals in court against bail and reviewed progress of cases against former president Asif Ali Zardari, and four former prime ministers Nawaz Sharif, Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani, Shaukat Aziz, Raja Pervez Ashraf, and other high-profile figures.
An official said the decision to this effect was taken in meeting presided over by NAB chairman former Justice Javed Iqbal and attended by all Director Generals (DG) of the regional bureaus via video link. The meeting decided to file appeals in courts against the decisions of bail after getting certified copies of bail from the respected relevant courts, he said.
He said the meeting also reviewed progress of cases against Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, former Punjab CM and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif, former CM Balochistan Aslam Khan Raisani, former CM Sindh Qaim Ali Shah, and former CM Balochistan Sanullah Zehri.
The Bureau also reviewed progress of cases against other PML-N leaders including former finance minister Ishaq Dar, Khawaja Saad Rafique, Ahsan Iqbal, Barjees Tahir, Rana Sanaullah, Engr Amir Muqam, Capt Safdar (retd), Sardar Mehtab Abbasi, Hamza Shahbaz, Suleman Shahbaz, two sons of Nawaz Sharif, Hassan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz, Sardar Ashiq Gopang and Tariq Fazal Chaudhry as well as cases against PPP leaders Dr Asim Hussain, Agha Siraj Durrani, Syed Khursheed Shah, Sharjeel Inam Memon, Jam Khan Shoro, Manzoor Wasan, and Ejaz Jakhrani.
The meeting also reviewed cases against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sarwar Khan, Noorul Haq Qadri, Sabtain Khan, Abdul Aleem Khan, Abdul Aleem Khan and former advisor to prime minister on health Dr Zafar Mirza.
Similarly, the meeting reviewed cases against Babar Khan Ghouri, Waseem Akhtar, Sahibzada Mehmood Zeb, Sher Azam Khan, Anwar Saifullah, Asfandyaar Kakar, Asim Kurd, Saadat Anwar, Rehmat Baloch, Ahad Cheema, Fawad Hassan Fawad, Amjad Ali Khan, Siddique Memon, Manzoor Kaka, Shahid ul Islam, Uzma Adil, Saeed Ahmed Khan, Tahir Basharat Cheema, Abdul Ghani Majeed, Anwar Majeed, Hussain Lawai, Ghulam Mustafa Phal, Farkhand Iqbal, Imtiaz Inayat Elahi, Kamran Lashari, Ghulam Sarwar Sindhu, Murtaza Malik, Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera, Kamran Shafi, Mudarba/Musharka accused Mufti Ehsan, Ghulam Rasool Ayubi, and Bank of Khyber.
NAB also reviewed progress of Malam Jabba case, Billion Tree Tsunami case, K-Electric, NTS, and others, sugar mills managements in sugar subsidy scam, and fake housing/cooperative societies and others. During the meeting, the NAB chairman said the Bureau was strictly pursuing the policy of accountability for all. The NAB has no affiliations with any political party, group or individual but it has true affiliations with the state of Pakistan.
