LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has said that the multiparty conference (MPC) of the opposition parties will end in a fiasco. "Opposition parties are deceiving themselves on the MPC. Unemployed politicians should keep this in their minds that MPC cannot assure public acceptability but serving people is the real politics which is the hallmark of PTI government. The Pakistanis have complete confidence on the bold and honest leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan," the chief minister said in a statement issued on Sunday.

He said the rejected elements had done nothing before and will not get anything in future as well. The opposition parties have already been divided and will further split after the MPC. The opposition has once again proved that they only gathered for protecting their personal interests, he added.

According to Buzdar, the opposition parties have totally ignored the national interest. Those who looted the national exchequer cannot hoodwink people through drama of the MPC. The people are well-aware and recognized the ineligible and corrupt faces. The rejected elements cannot deceive the conscience of the people.

"Opposition parties are trying to create hurdles in the progress and prosperity of the country. The negative role of the opposition is highly deplorable. Pakistan cannot afford any more chaos," he added.

Meanwhile, Provincial Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan, while commenting on the MPC, said the conference was not held for the country but for the personal interests of the corrupt elites.

He said it would have been appropriate for the opposition to put forward positive suggestions on the national agenda but they were not interested in any issue other than finding faults in the government and bringing themselves back to the power.

The senior minister was of the view that there is no threat to the government from such activities. He said Prime Minister Imran Khan would complete his term and will keep the country on the right track. "Actually, the achievements of the Imran-led government are not acceptable to the opposition as the premier has given high place to the country at international level," he expressed.

He said the gathering of the opposition parties under one roof to save their skins is the proof of Imran Khan's narrative on accountability. "Under the leadership of Imran Khan, no one will get NRO and the political opponents will fail while the present regime will move forward successfully," he claimed. According to Aleem, the participating parties in the MPC were not even sincere to each other and their direction is unclear as well. He hoped that the opposition will soon be at odds with each other.
