KARACHI: Administrator Karachi Iftikhar Ali Shallwani on Sunday said campaign for cleanliness and planting trees has been initiated from the Frere Hall. All big parks of the city would be cleaned and trees be planted there with the support of civil society and different organizations, the administrator passed these remarks while initiating the campaign from the Frere Hall.
Envoys of the Germany, Japan and other countries, renowned Architect Yasmeen Lari, DG Parks Taha Saleem, Director Coordination Masood Alam, Director Culture and Sports Khursheed Shah, prominent personalities of civil society and others were also present on the occasion.
Shallwani said the citizens have to play their role to ensure a clean environment around. “Karachi is a historical city and identity of Pakistan. A large number of visitors across the globe come here that’s why it has to be cleaned,” he added. He said after taking charge as administrator, he had ordered to preserve historical buildings, restoration of libraries, establishment of street libraries, plantation of trees and renovation of monuments and green belts.
