Customers to suffer severe LPG shortage in coming winters, warns Khokhar

Chairman LPG Industries Association of Pakistan Irfan Khokhar has warned consumers to be prepared to face a shortage of LPG along with natural gas in winter.
Khokhar said that the non-availability of LPG has worsened the gas crisis and the consumers of Karachi, like the rest of the country, will face severe problems due to the shortage of gas and LPG in the coming winter.
He said that LPG, an alternative to natural gas, is also depleting due to which the stoves in the houses would get cold, whereas transport will also stop.
The Prime Minister of Pakistan, following repeated requests from the LPG Industries Association of Pakistan, has directed his team to make gas available in winter and to remove obstacles to LPG imports, but no action has been taken yet.
Irfan Khokhar said that some elements in the bureaucracy were once again active in thwarting the government's strategy and it was being propagated that the gas coming from the Taftan border was being smuggled which could cause problems for Pakistan.
Khokhar demanded the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Federal Minister for Energy to take stern action against the government officials who were obstructing the import of LPG through the Taftan border.
