ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Fawad Chaudhry on Thursday lashed out at former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif saying that he wanted to "blackmail" and develop rifts among state institutions.

Talking to media persons here, the minister said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo had hatched various conspiracies against the institutions in his tenure.

He said that Nawaz Sharif wanted institutions fight with each other. He further said that the former Prime Minister spoke not for the country, but for protecting his own family's business.

Responding to Nawaz Sharif's recent speech, Fawad Chaudhry asked that why he kept silence for three years, if he had been ordered to resign? Chaudhry said that Nawaz Sharif was reluctant to return to homeland but he wanted PML-N's workers to take to the streets.

The minister said that the government was taking measures to bring Nawaz Sharif back to the country. Reacting to Nawaz Sharif's speech, Chaudhry said that Nawaz made a comical claim that he kept the dollar rate at Rs100, but failed to mention that this move cost the country Rs23 billion.

Nawaz Sharif had eroded the country's economy by the time he left, Fawad added. He said that Nawaz Sharif's only goal was to create division among the institutions. He wants institutions to fight with each other, so his own corruption can be covered up.

Nawaz Sharif knows everything on the face of the earth, except how he created 32 companies and flats in the name of his children, said Chaudhry, adding that unlike Nawaz, Imran Khan presented a 40-year-old money trail to justify his assets.

He slammed the PML-N leader, saying that all he wanted was to blackmail state institutions. "He has no ideology or principles." He said that Nawaz Sharif recited the oath of the army in his speech but he should have also recited his own oath, which forbids conspiring against the state. He challenged Nawaz that once he was brought back to Pakistan, he will make the same speech in court.
