KARACHI: On Friday, upon market closing, USD went down against PKR in both interbank and open markets. PKR also gained value against Euro in open market. According to reports, this fall in USD and Euro was in part due to President Donald Trump testing positive for COVID-19 and prospects of new US stimulus package coming into doubt.

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: In the interbank market, Pakistan Rupee gained 60 paisas for buying and 50 paisas for selling against USD over yesterday's rates closing at 164.40 and 164.60 respectively.

OPEN MARKET RATES: In the open market, PKR gained 80 paisas for buying and 90 paisas for selling over yesterday's rates closing at 164.50 and 164.80 respectively.

Against Euro, PKR went up by one rupee for both buying and selling closing at 192 and 193.50 respectively.

Against UAE Dirham, PKR lost 10 paisas for buying while gaining 5 paisas for selling closing at 45 and 45.15 respectively.

Against Saudi Riyal, PKR remained unchanged for buying and gained 10 paisas for selling closing at 43.70 and 43.90 respectively.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee showed strength and improved 85-paisa on buying side and 55-paisa on selling side in relation to the greenback in the local currency market on Friday.

According to the currency dealers, the dollar resumed trading on a depressed note and could not sustain due to lack of buyers' support. At close of trading, the dollar ended lower at Rs 164.25 and Rs 165.25 as its buying and selling rate against the overnight closing of Rs 165.10 and Rs 165.80, respectively.

Similarly, the rupee remained strong and appreciated its worth against the pound sterling that was traded at Rs 210.75 and Rs 213.25 on buying and selling counters as compared to Thursday closing of Rs 212.00 and Rs 214.00, respectively.

RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee gained Rs 1 against the dollar at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Friday.

The dollar opened at Rs 165.70 (buying) and Rs 165.80 (selling) against last rate of Rs 166.70 (buying) and Rs166.80(selling).

It closed at Rs 165.70 (buying) and Rs 165.80(selling).

The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold was Rs. 115,300(selling) and Rs 115,100 (buying) at the local Sarafa (gold) markets of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
