ISLAMABAD: Several educational institutes have been sealed in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad after several staff members and students were tested positive for the coronavirus.

Official sources revealed that after the reopening of educational institutes the number of coronavirus patients had witnessed a surge in the twin cities.

Three positive cases were reported in Islamabad Model College for Girls F-7/4, the sources said, adding that a servant and two students’ corona tests came back positive.

The cases were reported during random sampling.

According to a notification consequent upon the letters issued from the office of the District Health Officer (DHO), the Islamabad College for Boys, G-6/3, and Islamabad Model College for Girls, F-7/4, are closed for one week.

These will be re-opened on Monday, October 12, subject to clearance from the DHO’s office.

Further, F-7/2 college has also been closed after several students were reported to have contracted the coronavirus.

The administration reiterated that all the heads of the institutes should keep following the prescribed SOPs strictly without any compromise.

At least 30 employees of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) have tested positive for the coronavirus in a period spanning a week.

According to a PIMS spokesman, the staff infected with the coronavirus included nurses and doctors.

The spokesman said that 10 patients of the coronavirus were undergoing treatment at PIMS, while the condition of three patients undergoing treatment at the hospital was critical.
