KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Sindh chapter President Nisar Ahmed Khuhro on Sunday paid tribute to Karachiites for what he said rejecting ethnic hatred and proposed bifurcation of Sindh province.

Addressing his party's Karachi Solidarity Rally here Khuhro said that the people of Karachi, the capital of Sindh, have categorically rejected the bifurcation of Sindh. This mammoth rally is a 'public referendum' against those who are hell bent upon dividing Sindh for their own vested interests, he said in veiled reference to Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P).

PPP would fight for the rights of Karachi and would not allow anyone to rob Karachi of its rights. Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the father of nation never spoke of partition.

"Those who are presently vocal for the division of Sindh have destroyed three generations of Urdu speaking community," he alleged.

Karachi Solidarity Rally under PPP Karachi Division began from Federal B Area and culminated at Saddar CDGK Parking Plaza after going through Karimabad, Al-Kurram Square, Liaquatabad Post Office, Teen Hatti, Jahangir Road, Gurumundir, Mazar-e-Quaid, People's Secretariat, and Lines area.

Nisar warned that those who wanted to occupy Karachi should stop dreaming. The people of this city have always shared love but they [MQM] want to destroy the city.

"We will not allow Karachi's rights to be robbed and we will not allow Sindh to be divided."

He said that the Karachi rally was the beginning of protests. If we call for protests across Sindh, the people will be on the streets against the rulers.

He said, "Sindh is the motherland. We will protect it and we want to tell the opponents not to lookdown on it."

He said that PPP will continue to fight for the development and prosperity of country. PPP founder Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was removed from the path. But, bullets, coercion, violence and executions could not stop us.

He said that PPP is proud of the people living in slums of the city and the province. PPP leaders Saeed Ghani and Waqar Mehdi while addressing the participants of the rally said that people of Karachi have rejected the partition of Sindh and have buried the politics of bigotry.

The party will fight the case of the people by winning the next local bodies elections from all over the province including Karachi. Other party leaders including Javed Naguri, Prof N D Khan, Senator Taj Haider, Shehla Raza, Zulfiqar Qaim Khani, Senator Anwar Lal Dean etc were also present in the rally.
