ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Commerce had requisitioned the services of Abdul Khalique Shaikh PSP/BS-21 officer, currently at the disposal of Establishment Division for posting in State Life Insurance Corporation (SLIC) as Executive Director, on deputation basis, on standard terms and conditions.
In response, Establishment Division on July 8, 2020 requested the Commerce Ministry to initiate summary for soliciting approval of the competent authority/forum under the rules. Accordingly, a summary for the Prime Minister on July 24, 2020 was initiated.
SLIC is a public sector insurance organization, working under the administrative control of the Ministry of Commerce. In terms of Establishment Division's Office Memorandum of January 24, 1996 the post of Executive Director, SLIC is equivalent to BS-21 being Grade M-ll post. The summary of July 24, 2020 was submitted through Establishment Division by the Commerce Ministry which was returned by Establishment Division requiring the Ministry to initiate summary for approval of Federal Cabinet in view of provisions contained in State Life Insurance Corporation (General) Regulations, 1972.
The provision is reproduced below for convenience of perusal: "Executive Director" means a Director of the Corporation appointed by the Chairman, with the previous approval of the Federal Government as an Executive Director to work as a whole time officer. The Commerce Ministry, in its summary proposed that services of Abdul Khalique Shaikh, a PSP/BS-21 officer, currently at the disposal of Establishment Division, may be posted in State Life Insurance Corporation (SLIC) as Executive Director, on deputation basis for a period of three years, on standard terms and conditions. Prime Minister as Minister in-Charge Ministry of Commerce has approved the summary for submission to the Cabinet.
