KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 320,396 tonnes of cargo comprising 220,250 tonnes of import cargo and 100,146 tonnes of export cargo including 8,695 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.
The total import cargos of 220,250 tonnes comprised of 142,577 tonnes of containerised cargo; 16,405 tonnes of wheat and 61,268 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 100,146 tonnes comprised of 52,415 tonnes of containerised cargo; 121 tonnes of bulk cargo; 43,010 tonnes of clinkers and 4,600 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 8,695 containers comprising of 4,758 containers import and 3,937 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,820 of 20's and 1,273 of 40's loaded while 210 of 20's and 91 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 883 of 20's and 716 of 40's loaded containers while 386 of 20's and 618 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were ten ships namely Cosco Taicang, Xin Qing Dao, Northern Discovery, MSC Tavvishi, AS Roberta, Chemroad Aqua, Stolt Courage, MT Lahore, Pacific Talent and Morgenstond-II carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were fifteen vessels viz. Xin Qing Dao, MSC Tavvishi, Ubena, AS Roberta, OEL Kedarnath, Xin Pu Dong, Isobel, Diyala, Thorsky, Rdo Fortune, Avanti, DM Jade, Mariann, Seacon-6 and Adastar carrying containers, oil tankers, clinker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There are six ships namely OEL Kedarnath, Xin Pu Dong, Isobel, Diyala, Thorsky and Ince Kastamonu carrying containers and wheat respectively to sail on Monday.
There are two vessels viz. Ningbo Express and MT Shalamar carrying containers and oil tanker respectively due to arrive on Monday while nine vessels viz. Cape Fortius, OOCL Guangzhou, MSC Tavvishi, Rome Express, Hyundai Privilege, Pacific Sarah, Lime Galaxy, Alrayan and Da Tong Yun carrying containers mogas, chemical, clinkers and general cargo respectively are expected due to arrive on Tuesday.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 289,090 tonnes comprising 211,285 tonnes of import cargo and 77,805 tonnes of export cargo including 5,627 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 211,285 tonnes tonnes includes 88,500 tonnes of coal; 77,350 tonnes of LNG; 6,038 tonnes of palm oil; 3,170 tonnes of palm kernel; 1,119 tonnes of project cargo; 6,000 tonnes of mogas and 29,108 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 77,805 tonnes includes 77,805 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 5,627 containers comprising of 1,532 containers import and 4,095 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
There were three ships namely Safmarine Nyassa, Al Nouman and Lia carrying containers, LNG and mogas sailed out to sea on Monday morning.
A total number of eight ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, coal, canola, LNG, gas oil and palm kernel respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as thirteen vessels viz. MSC Meidi, Global Rose, Kastro, Manta Asli, SBI Achillos, Star Hercules, Singapore Logle, Gas Athena, White Purl, Gulf Coast, Leader, Al-Soor-II and Gull Pearl carrying containers, steel coil, coal, LPG, gasoline, gas oil and palm kernel respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five ships viz. MSC Meidi, Sphene, Global Rose, Kastro and Al-Soor-II carrying containers, general cargo, steel coil, coal and gas oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Monday.
There are two ships namely Maersk Denver and Alidi Wave carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Tuesday.
