LAHROE: In order to provide state-of-the-art facilities to the passengers, the Punjab transport department has decided to construct three multi-model intercity bus terminals in the provincial metropolis which will be constructed on public-private partnership basis.
Dr. Farrukh Naveed, Project Director and head of Public Private Partnership (PPP) Cell of Punjab government, told the Business Recorder that due to massive traffic in Lahore, especially at Badami Bagh General Bus Stand, there is a dire need to construct new bus terminals. The new bus terminals would be located at suitable locations to accommodate all incoming and outgoing traffic. The transport department intends to establish multi-model intercity bus terminals to provide international standard services in public private partnership mode, he added.
Giving details of the proposed bus terminal in the city, he said that the first bus terminal would be constructed at G T Road near Shahdara railway crossing adjacent to Imamia Colony and the second one would be established near Thokar Niaz Baig and the third would be set up on Ferozpur Road near Rohi Nallah. Talking about the areas of the bus terminal, he said for Thokar Niaz Baig bus terminal, 244 kanal and 04 marla land has been acquired.
