Will try to register a case against PM Imran: Abbasi hits back after Nawaz treason case

Abbasi said that former FIA officer has alleged that the current PM told him to lodge a case against Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Asif under ‘Article 6’ of the constitution.

Former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Wednesday said he would try to file a case against Prime Minister Imran Khan based on allegations leveled by former director general of FIA Bashir Memon during an interview.

“I’m going to Lahore tomorrow and will try to register a case against Imran Khan in Shahdran,” said Abbasi while talking to media in Islamabad.

He said that former Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officer has alleged that the current PM told him to lodge a case against Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Asif under ‘Article 6’ of the constitution.

The former Prime Minister added that the claims made by Memon had proven that PM Imran is obsessed with the opposition.

Commenting on treason case registered against PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif and other leaders, Abbasi challenged the minister ‘distributing certificates of treachery’ to become witness in the case. He asked “where were the ministers that were distributing those certificates when it came time to defend the case.”

Taking a jab at the government, Abbasi asked the ministers not to distribute “certificates of treachery” and solve the problems of the people.

He added that this why the Pakistan Democratic Movement was formed — to resolve the problems of the people.

Shahid Khaqan said that a case has been registered against the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir and those who serve the country including two former prime minister of Pakistan have become traitors today.

Traitors are the ones who stopped work on CPEC and increased problems for masses, he said.

He asked, “What case for Kashmir will you fight when you keep in front of the world that prime minister of Azad Kashmir is an Indian agent.”

The opposition and the government have been involved in a war of words after a sedition case was registered against ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif, AJK PM Raja Farooq Haider and other leaders.

The case against Nawaz Sharif and the top leadership of PML-N was registered after an FIR was registered against them on Monday for delivering provocative speeches from London “to defame Pakistan’s institutions”.
