A two-day workshop arranged by the Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) for the capacity building of its subject specialists, deputed in low-cost private schools in 24 districts with the view to enhance the quality of education, has concluded here on Friday at children library complex with chairman Punjab Education Foundation Raja Anwar in the chair at the concluding ceremony. As many as 51 subject specialists from 24 districts took part in it.
PEF chairman Raja Anwar said in his address that PEF has provided subject specialists under "Subject Based Support Programme (SBSP)" to improve the level of education of private schools. These subject specialists teach the subjects of mathematics, English, physics, chemistry and biology and they are not only performing duties in their allocated schools but also proving to be helpful human resource for the Punjab Education Foundation in other tasks like conduction of quality assurance tests, school surveys, monitoring of schools and holding of training workshops, etc. Now, the programme has been revamped to enhance focus on schools' improvement and capacity building of teachers, he added. He said 12 thousand students have been benefited by this programme during the last fiscal year.
While talking about the initiatives of the Punjab government for improving the school sector, he said that as many as 70 thousand teachers have been recruited on merit during recent years in the province.
