LAHORE: Both the ruling PTI and opposition-led Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) have tightened their belts to counter each other in the political field.
On Friday, PTI leaders including Pervaiz Khattak, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Asad Umer, and Fawad Chaudhry held a meeting with Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar in which they discussed political strategy to counter opposition's narrative ahead of its rally in Gujranwala on October 16.
Sources claimed that the participants of the meeting expressed their resolve to remain firm with their narrative of accountability and take every corrupt to task come what may. Different options were discussed to expose the opposition, particularly the PML-N, the sources said. "The PTI leaders lashed out at opposition parties for prioritizing their personal motives on national interests."
Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry said that the PML-N is hoodwinking the masses with its slogan of 'democracy.' He advised the PML-N leaders to start democratic process from their own party.
Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said the real faces of opposition leaders have been exposed. Accountability is a national mission and the PTI government will never step back from it, he added.
On the other hand, the PML-N held a meeting at its Model Town Secretariat to ensure maximum power show in PDM's Gujranwala rally on October 16. PML-N Punjab President Rana Sanaullah chaired the meeting in which the PML-N leaders and legislators assigned shows for massive power show on October 16.
Expressing resolves to come up to the expectations of people, Rana said: "We will not dash public hopes." He said the PDM will fight for protecting all state organs and it will succeed. "We have decided that only the people will make the decisions of this country," he said.
