LAHORE: The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) consumers are infuriated over a change in billing schedule, saying that the electricity bills should be issued in early part of the month for an easy and timely payment of dues.
As per the changed billing schedule, the LESCO consumers are bound to pay bills in between 22nd to 29the of October, the ongoing month. It may be noted that the distribution company had previously issued bills at the end of the month that caused troubles for consumers.
Majority of consumers had turned up to the complaint cells for an extension in payment of bills as they were not in a position to pay bills due to the last days of the month. It may be noted that the federal cabinet has already directed DISCOs to avoid from sending bills to consumers during the last date of a month. Meanwhile, LESCO sources have pointed out that change in billing schedule is responsibility of National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).
