KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 177,010 tonnes of cargo comprising 131,151 tonnes of import cargo and 45,859 tonnes of export cargo including 7,683 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargos of 131,151 tonnes comprised of 65,951 tonnes of containerised cargo; 21,459 tonnes of bulk cargo; 8,102 tonnes of wheat and 35,639 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 45,859 tonnes comprised of 30,980 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,599 tonnes of clinkers and 9,280 tonnes of cement.
As many as 7,683 containers comprising of 4,701 containers import and 2,982 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,069 of 20’s and 1,706 of 40’s loaded while 04 of 20’s and 108 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 889 of 20’s and 500 of 40’s loaded containers while 117 of 20’s and 488 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely CMA CGM Titus, Hyundai Colombo, Pacific Endeavor, Sea Power and Haut Brion carrying containers, chemical and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were six vessels viz. OEL Kedarnath, Erving, KMTC Dubai, Star Ploeg, Asavari and Beaufort carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There are five ships namely Erving, Ital Lirica, Star Ploeg, Al Mahboobah and Velos Sapphire carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and mogas respectively to sail on Wednesday while another ship namely OEL Kedarnath carrying containers is expected to sail on Thursday.
There are three vessels viz. Ever Ursula, Xin Hong Kong and MT Lahore carrying containers and oil tanker respectively due to arrive on Wednesday while six vessels viz. MSC Candice, X-Press Guernsey, MT Shalamar, Lucky Trader, Gulf Trader and Eemslift Dafne carrying containers, oil tanker, sugar, wheat and general cargo respectively are expected due to arrive on Thursday.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 247,307 tonnes comprising 217,914 tonnes of import cargo and 29,393 tonnes of export cargo including 4,936 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 217,914 tonnes tonnes includes 38,000 tonnes of coal; 56,639 tonnes of LNG; 35,353 tonnes of gas oil; 13,500 tonnes of wheat; 8,998 tonnes of chemical; 1,040 tonnes of LPG and 64,391 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 29,393 tonnes includes 29,393 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 4,936 containers comprising of 3,389 containers import and 1,547 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
There were four ships namely Maersk Kinloss, Nordic America, Epic Bermuda and Al-Salam-II carrying containers, chemical, LPG and gasoline respectively are expected to sail on Wednesday afternoon.
A total number of eleven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, coal, chemical, wheat. LPG, LNG, gas oil and palm kernel respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as twenty vessels viz. Xin Hong Kong, Jeppesen Maersk, Jal Kamal, Kiran Caribbean, Bright Imabari, Star Hercules, Sweet Melissa, Shaa Shan-6, Luminous Nava, Chemroad Pegasus, Oriental Freesia, Ali Ki Force, Gas Athena, Gas Zeus, Gas Amazon, Cool Explorer, Gulf Pearl, Norstar Invictus, MT Karachi and Antigoni carrying containers, coal, chemical, soyabean, talcum powder, LPG, LNG, mogas, condensate, furnace oil and palm kernel respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were seven ships viz. X-Press Guernsey, Bright Imabari, Chemroad Pegasus, Ali Ki Force, Gas Amazon, Cool Explorer and MT Karachi carrying containers, coal, chemical, talcum powder, LPG, LNG and furnace oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
There was one ship namely X-Press Guernsey carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday while two ships namely CMA CGM Orfeo and Josphine Maersk carrying containers are due to arrive on Thursday.
