KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 175,864 tonnes of cargo comprising 123,805 tonnes of import cargo and 52,059 tonnes of export cargo including 10,145 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargos of 123,805 tonnes comprised of 62,650 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,392 tonnes of bulk cargo; 6,655 tonnes of wheat and 47,108 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 52,059 tonnes comprised of 46,007 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,924 tonnes of clinkers and 128 tonnes of cement.

As many as 10,145 containers comprising of 4,425 containers import and 5,720 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,353 of 20's and 1,509 of 40's loaded while 04 of 20's and 25 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,018 of 20's and 880 of 40's loaded containers while 558 of 20's and 1,192 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were nine ships namely Erving, KMTC Dubai, Ital Lirica, AS Sara, Star Ploeg, Asavari, Al Mahboobah, Ottomana and Velos Sapphire carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were four vessels viz. KMTC Dubai, Ever Ursula, MT Lahore and Ottomana carrying containers and oil tankers respectively currently at the berths.

There are two ships namely Greenwich Bridge and MT Lahore carrying containers and oil tanker respectively to sail on Thursday.

There are five vessels viz. MSC Candice, X-Press Guernsey, MT Shalamar, Gulf Trader and Eemslift Dafne carrying containers, oil tanker, wheat and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Thursday while five vessels viz. Northern Dexterity, Xin Hong Kong, Szczecin Trader, Indigo Garland and Qing Ping Shan carrying containers, wheat and clinker respectively are expected due to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 217,622 tonnes comprising 168,754 tonnes of import cargo and 48,868 tonnes of export cargo including 4,422 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 168,754 tonnes tonnes includes 20,881 tonnes of coal; 67,748 tonnes of LNG; 14,666 tonnes of furnace oil; 16,000 tonnes of wheat; 12,346 tonnes of chemical; 1,963 tonnes of palm kernel and 35,150 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 48,868 tonnes includes 48,868 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 4,422 containers comprising of 1,850 containers import and 2,572 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There were four ships namely Symil, Asia Zircon-2, Parnasos and Colar Ice carrying containers, coal and LNG respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while three ships namely Maersk Kinloss, X-Press Guernsey and Cool Explorer carrying containers and LNG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, talcum powder, coal, chemical, wheat, LPG, LNG, furnace oil and palm kernel respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as seventeen vessels viz. Xin Hong Kong, Jeppesen Maersk, Express Maersk, Josphine Maersk, Ever Alliance, Jal Kamal, Kiran Caribbean, Star Hercules, Sweet Melissa, Shaa Shan-6, Luminous Nova, Oriental Freesia, Gas Athena, Gas Zeus, Gulf Pearl, Norstar Invictus and Antigoni carrying containers, cement, coal, chemical, soyabean, LPG, mogas, condensate and palm kernel respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four ships viz. Xin Hong Kong, CMA CGM Medea, Josphine Maersk and Ever Alliance carrying containers and coal respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Pakistan International Bulk Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There were two ships namely CMA CGM Medea and DM Emerald carrying containers and chemical respectively due to arrive on Thursday while three ships namely CMA CGM Orieo, Japposen Maersk and Kharailiyal carrying containers and LNG respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
