KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 114,508 tonnes of cargo comprising 58,597 tonnes of import cargo and 55,911 tonnes of export cargo including 7,667 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargos of 58,597 tonnes comprised of 35,365 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,814 tonnes of sugar; 6,550 tonnes of DAP; 14,340 tonnes of wheat and 528 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 55,911 tonnes comprised of 44,990 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,421 tonnes of clinkers and 2,500 tonnes of cement oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 7,667 containers comprising of 2,087 containers import and 5,580 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 477 of 20's and 733 of 40's loaded while 142 of 20's and 01 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,422 of 20's and 729 of 40's loaded containers while 80 of 20's and 1,310 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely Vasi Star, Madrid Trader, Ginga Lion and Plover Pacific carrying containers, oil tanker and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were four vessels viz. Wan Hai-611, Kota Naked, Rong and Da An carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There are three ships namely Xin Hong Kong, Kota Naked and CSL Sophie carrying containers expected to sail on Thursday while another ship namely Athina-III carrying wheat is expected to sail on Friday.
There are four vessels viz. Northern Dedication, Gdynia Trader, Gion Trader and Stolt Spruce carrying containers and ethanol respectively due to arrive on Thursday while five vessels viz. Cosco Europe, Hyundai Jakarta, MT Quetta, Global Legend and Honey Badger carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and wheat respectively are expected due to arrive on Friday.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 214,069 tonnes comprising 155,859 tonnes of import cargo and 58,210 tonnes of export cargo including 4,178 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 155,859 tonnes includes 44,840 tonnes of coal; 20,856 tonnes of LNG; 6,007 tonnes of palm oil; 6,800 tonnes of soyabean; 45,000 tonnes of gas oil; 920 tonnes of LPG; 3,639 tonnes of palm kernel and 27,797 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 58,210 tonnes includes 6,615 tonnes of cement and 51,595 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 4,178 containers comprising of 1,463 containers import and 2,715 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There were two ships namely Energy Atlantic and Silver Ervilia carrying LNG and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while four ships namely MSC Lisban, Maersk Kensington, Gas Arma and Al-Soor-II carrying containers, LNG and gas oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eleven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, cement, soyabean, LPG, LNG, gas oil and palm kernel respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as nineteen vessels viz. Aldi Wave, Maersk Bogar, Boaufort, Zante, Agonistics, Star Allair, Shao Shan-6, Unicom Spirit, Sea Brave, Epic Bermuda, Glory Harvest, Tomson Gas, Gas Zeus, Al-Utoriya, Azorile, Khair Pure, Leader, Bhai Ravi and Mega-1 carrying containers, steel product, cement, coal, chemical, soyabean, LPG, LNG, mogas, gas oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were seven ships viz. Aldi Wave, OOCL Asia, Agonistics, Glory Harvest, Al-Utoriya, Azorile and Mogal carrying containers, coal, LNG, LPG, gas oil and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There was one ship namely Alai Wave and OOCL Asia carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday while another ship namely Maersk Bogar carrying containers is due to arrive on Friday.
