LAHORE: Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Senator Sirajul Haq has called from severing all diplomatic relations with France and boycotting its products in response to French President Emmanuel Macron insulting remarks against Islam and Holy Prophet (pbuh).

In a statement issued from Mansoora on Monday, he demanded the government convene the OIC meeting to develop a common strategy of Muslim world for the protection of Islam and holy personalities in view of growing Islamophobia in the western world.

The JI chief also submitted an adjournment motion in the Senate of Pakistan against the remarks of French president. Earlier, he presided over the Milad-e-Mustafa Conference at Mansoora where hundreds of religious scholars, mashaikh and custodians of different shrines expressed confidence in the efforts of Jamaat-e-Islami for the unity of Muslim Ummah and national solidarity.

The conference condemned the French president derogatory remarks against Islam, saying the anti-Islam forces joined hands to further marginalize Muslim world and capture its resources. "French president insulting comments against the Holy Prophet (pbuh) exposed the weakness and helplessness of the rulers of Muslim countries," said Sirajul Haq while addressing the conference. He, however, paid great respect to Turkish president for challenging Emmanuel Macron and taking firm stand in defense of Muslim world.

He highlighted the need to defend the ideological boundaries of the country at a time when secular lobbies and western world were fully conspiring to attack the beliefs of Muslims. He said the religious scholars should pay their role for the unity of Muslims and ideological defense of the country.

He said the enforcement of teachings of Quran and Sunnah was the solution to the country's problems. He said interested based economy destroyed the every sector, enslaving the nation to the international lending agencies.

He said the JI alone could not change the prevailing order and it needed the support of the religious scholars, heads of the shrines and mashaikhirkam to transform the country a citadel of Islam and put it on the path of development. There was dire need to change the system and get rid of the prevailing parties who looted the country's resources for decades and did nothing for the poor people, he said.

"Be the support of the Jamaat-e-Islami to bring real change in the country," he asked the participants of the conference, saying the JI was the only party which was capable to put Pakistan on the path of development.
