ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday congratulated Khyber Pakhtunkwa government for “giving health insurance cover to all those with a Khyber Pakhtunkhwa domicile.”

“This is a huge step towards making Pakistan a welfare state based on Riyasat e Madina,” the PM said in a tweet.

The KP government has started issuance of Sehat Insaf card to all the people domiciled in KP.

On August 20, 2020, the PM launched Sehat Insaf Card facility for all the citizens belonging to KP. The distribution of Sehat Insaf Cards in KP has been categorized in six zones. In these zones, 6.05 million families comprising of 30.5 million individuals would be issued Sehat Insaf Cards. In Zone I, 1.19 million families comprising of 5.8 million individuals would get Sehat Insaf Cards in Upper Chitral, Lower Chitral, Upper Dir, Lower Dir, Malakand Division and Swat.

In Zone II, 1.18 million families comprising of 5.07 million citizens would get Sehat Insaf Cards in Shangla, Kohistan, Battagram, Maneshra, Torghar and Abbottabad.

In Zone III, 1.27 million families comprising of 5.89 million individuals would get Sehat Insaf Cards in Haripur, Buner, Swabi and Mardan.

In Zone IV, 1.22 million families comprising of 7.40 million individuals would get Sehat Insaf Cards in Nowshera, Charsadda and Peshawar. In Zone V, 0.69 million families comprising of 3.38 million individuals would get Sehat Insaf Cards in Kohat, Hangu, Karak and Bannu by January 2010.

And in Zone VI, 0.48 million families comprising of 2.89 million individuals would receive Sehat Insaf cards in Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan and Tank. The entire exercise is scheduled to be completed earlier next year.

Under Sehat Insaf Card, health coverage for hospitalization for the treatment of major diseases in different listed government and private hospitals is up to Rs 720,000. This limit was previously Rs 360,000, which was increased to twice and can be increased to Rs 1080,000 in case the expenses for the treatment of any major disease exceed Rs 720,000.
