ISLAMABAD: Opposition is not and cannot promote a Judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan as there is a set procedure for promotion of judges based on their respective seniority.

"It was the government which with malafide intentions duly noted by the Honorable Supreme Court in their Judgment of 23 October 2020 had through concocted charges tried to oust a highly respected Judge," said Member Core Committee of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Senator Taj Haider.

He said, "The Selected Prime Minister in a thoughtless outburst of sentiments has exposed and proved his malafide interest against the said judge once again in his speech in Gilgit on the 1st of November. It should be noted that the Selected Prime Minister in his Gilgit speech, while attacking the Opposition and offering incentives to voters was committing defiant violation of the Code of Conduct of Gilgit Baltistan Elections and Electoral Laws. What an irony that a habitual law breaker has the cheek to continue his tirade against a highly respected judge of the Supreme Court. What was this outburst if not a predetermined Contempt of Court?"

Senator Taj Haider said in a press statement on Monday that after the Judgment of the Supreme Court in Justice Qazi Faiz Isa case, the honorable option for both the Prime Minister and the President was to resign from their high positions.

He said that it is the Constitutional office that commands much more respect than the person who occupies it legally or illegally. He said that dignity of a high constitutional office should not be sacrificed on the altar of ego of self conceited persons.

He said not only that the two office holders have not taken a dignified course of resigning from their offices the Prime Minister persists in his mistaken course which has already resulted in disgracing his high office, he said.

He said that the PPP has rendered immense sacrifices for rule of law and independence of Judiciary. Let no one be under any doubt that the Party will be a silent spectator to the attacks on Judiciary, he said. "We have risen to resist all pressures on Judiciary. We shall rise again," said Senator Taj Haider.
