ISLAMABAD: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) approved four projects at a cost of Rs3.69 billion and agreed on the cost of Rs33.49 billion for two development projects.

The CDWP met with Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan in the chair at P-Block Secretariat on Wednesday.

Senior officials from the Planning Commission and federal ministries/divisions also participated in the meeting, while representatives from provincial governments participated through a video conference.

The CDWP agreed on the total cost of Rs33.49 billion for two projects but it did not refer them so far to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for final approval.

Projects related to health, physical planning and housing, education, and mass media were presented in the meeting.

Three projects related to health were presented in the meeting.

First project, “Construction of 50-bedded hospital including hostels, residential accommodation, medical equipment, ambulances and other vehicles at Pasni” at a cost of Rs508.20 million was approved by the CDWP.

This project will provide medical treatment facilities to the common people in Pasni including its surrounding areas at minimal cost, and also includes construction and residential accommodation for doctors and paramedical staff.

The CDWP agreed for the project, “Sehat Sahulat Program 2nd Revision” at a cost of Rs31.935 billion.

This project envisages provision of social health protection against catastrophic health expenditure to all marginalised families of Pakistan living below the poverty line of USD2.00 per day.

Sehat Sahulat Program is under implementation in all districts of Pakistan including districts of Balochistan, Punjab, the AJK, the Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B), and the Islamabad Capital Territory.

The CDWP also agreed for another project, “Japanese Grant Assistance for COVID-19 Response” worth Rs1562.40 million. This project envisages procurement of critical care medical equipment and supplies for up-gradation of existing healthcare facilities all over the country.
