FAISALABAD: The Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that government is fully committed to expedite growth of commerce to maximum possible level by using all available means. He assured full support and enabling environment to increase exports, besides creating sustainable jobs to alleviate poverty.

Talking to a delegation of Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) during his visit to Faisalabad here on Wednesday, the PM has said the government have strong believes that economic revolution in the country can only be possible through trade promotion and all possible support to export sector is being extended to achieve optimum growth. "Textile industry is the backbone of economy and remedial measures to overcome the challenges are being taken to uplift this sector."

PTEA delegation commended government's policies and Prime Minister Imran Khan's revolutionary steps to enhance exports. PTEA's patron-in-chief Khurram Mukhtar said that confidence of the business community has been restored as a result of government's prudent economic policies, which has accelerated the economic process in the country. As a result of government's growth-led initiatives especially market based flexible exchange rate, energy package for five export sectors, timely refund payments and availability of LTFF and TERF at subsidized rates, textile export sector has come on track and our exports have witnessed positive growth, he said. Textile value chain has created 50,000 new job opportunities; whereas 100 billion rupees investment is in pipeline which will further create 100,000 more job opportunities. He urged the Prime Minister to immediately approved textile policy for further five years to further accelerate the growth momentum in textile sector and will also build exporters' confidence. He requested the Prime Minister to increase ceilings of LTFF and TUF facility to Rs 100 billion.

Appreciating government's exemplary initiative of liquidation of long outstanding refunds of exporters, he said that this has released the financial stress for exporters; however he pointed out that still Rs 7 billion are outstanding on account of Duty Drawback; whereas Rs 16 billion is against DLTL and Rs 20 billion is pending on account of income tax refund. He requested for payment of remaining outstanding refunds to further boost the economic activities. Textile exporters also request for a 300-bed hospital in Faisalabad to provide better health facilities to the people and offered to contribute 40 percent expense in this respect.

The Prime Minister appreciated the gesture of textile exporters and announced that federal Government will provide 50 percent funds whereas 10 percent funds will be provided by the provincial government for establishment of new 300-bed hospital in Faisalabad.

High officials of the government including Governor Punjab Ch Muhammad Sarwar, Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar, Federal Ministers Asad Umar, Barrister Hammad Azhar, Provincial Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal, Parliamentarians Faiz-ullah Kamoka, Farrukh Habib, Sh. Khurram Shahzad and Khyal Kastro were also present in the meeting. PTEA delegation was comprised of patron-in-chief Khurram Mukhtar, Chairman Muhammad Ahmad, Vice Chairman Saqib Majeed, former Chairmen Sohail Pasha, Faiq Jawed, Sh Asghar Ali and members Rana Javed Akhtar, Gohar Mustafa, Shoaib Mukhtar and Hamza Mukhtar.-PR
