The recently inaugurated Pakistan-China Joint Chamber of Commerce & Industry marks the beginning of new possibilities and opportunities for both countries. Economic and financial pundits agree that two countries are better suited for bilateral growth than these two. China with its huge trade surplus and Pakistan with its trade deficit are almost made for each other.
Compared to countries like America and Japan, Chinese investment outside of China is fairly low. For them, neighbouring Pakistan with the world's 6th largest population and investment - friendly environment and 25th largest economy offers immense potential for growth.
Not only a development in trade, the Chamber also promises to bring people from the two countries together as relationship so far has been bilaterally congenial but limited to the government and official level.
Founded by a group of inspired and far-sighted, forward looking individuals and corporates from both the countries it was inaugurated in Lahore with approval from the government of Pakistan. PCJCCI will now be setting up branches in both the countries to give full dimensional services and support to investors. In its 5-year Roadmap the Chamber has planned a series of expos, seminars and events to promote business and cultural exchange.
Although, it's still some time to go before results begin to show, it is a very welcome first step into a new tomorrow.-PR
