KARACHI: On Thursday, PKR gained strength in both interbank and open markets. In global financial and equity markets, Covid-19 vaccine optimism dented safe haven investments and increased appetite for riskier assets.

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: In the interbank market, Pakistan Rupee gained 45 paisas for buying and selling against USD over yesterday's rates closing at 160.10 and 160.20 respectively.

OPEN MARKET RATES: In the open market, PKR gained 30 paisas for buying and 20 paisas for selling over yesterday's rates closing at 160.20 and 160.50 respectively.

Against Euro, PKR gained 30 paisas for buying while remaining unchanged for selling closing at 192.50 and 194 respectively thus reversing yesterday's losses.

Against UAE Dirham, PKR gained 10 paisas for buying and 5 paisas for selling closing at 43.50 and 43.80 respectively.

Against Saudi Riyal, PKR gained 5 paisas for buying and 10 paisas for selling closing at 42.35 and 42.50 respectively.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee appreciated its worth on the buying side while it stayed unchanged on the selling side in relation to the American dollar in the local currency market on Thursday.

According to currency dealers, the dollar lost 20 paisas and ended lower for buying at Rs 160.30 against the opening rate of Rs 160.50 whereas it firmly closed for selling at Rs 161.50.

On the other hand, the rupee showed strength as it recovered its day earlier losses versus the pound sterling that was bought and sold at Rs 211.50 and Rs 213.40 against the overnight closing trend of Rs 213.00 and Rs 214.60 respectively, they added.

RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The dollar gained 20 paisas against the rupee at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Thursday.

The dollar opened at Rs161.20 (buying) and Rs 161.30(selling) against last rate of Rs161 (buying) and Rs 161.10(selling).

It closed at Rs161.20 (buying) and Rs 161.30(selling).

The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold was Rs. 108,100 (selling) and Rs108,000(buying) at the local Sarafa (gold) markets of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
