Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority, (Smeda) distributed Rs 2.6 million grant cheques among flood affected small enterprises of Union Council, Garah Balouch, District Tank. As implementing partner of UNDP-funded "Early flood recovery communities" programme, Smeda had extended grant Rs 30,000 each among more than 89 small enterprises.
The Programme Provincial Co-ordinator, Noor Zeba, formally distributed the cheques in a ceremony held here at Union Council Garah Balouch, District Tank. The Co-ordinator Business Support Centre, Muhammad Mudassar, members of village advisory committee, notable and inhabitants of the area along with grant beneficiaries were also present.
Noor Zeba, while addressing on the occasion said that the Smeda with financial support of UNDP had extended grant to recover the floods affected small businesses in the region, adding that efforts were being made to work on other relevant sectors as well. She expressed the hope that the UNDP-funded ER project would prove to revival of flood-hit small businesses in the area, saying that Smeda is playing pivotal role in facilitation the affectees under the UNDP-funded project.
She further said the authority is also working different interventions to support and facilitate for development of SMEs in the province. He said that all possible steps would be taken to ease suffering of the flood affected people under the programme, saying that the grant distribution was part of this effort. On the occasion, the notable of the area have extended special gratitude to Smeda and UNDP for provision of financial assistance to restore flood affected businesses in the region, and expressed the hope that the programme would also extended to other flood affected UCs of the district Tank.
