ISLAMABAD: Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organizations (MAPIM) has strongly condemned the worsening human rights violation and forced demographic change in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), and urged the UN to intervene and stop this inhumanity and gross violation of international laws by India occupation forces.

The MAPIM, in its statement on Wednesday which was also released here to the media by the Foreign Office, strongly demanded that India’s impunity on Kashmir’s freedom and human rights activists must be stopped immediately.

“India is reigning its occupation troops on the Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K) region with no regards to the rights of the Kashmiris for a dignified and independent existence. With the current grave situation that is facing the Kashmiris in the sieged region of the IIOJ&K, the brutality of a barbaric scale by more than 900,000 Indian troops against Kashmiris are a clear violation of all international laws,” the statement reads.

“It is more than just an occupation but an extermination,” it further reads, adding, “We call the UN to intervene without delay. UN has the obligation to stop this inhumanity and gross violation of international laws by India on Kashmiris,” the MAPIM further demanded.

It noted that the worsening human rights violation and forced demographic change to alter Kashmir from a Muslim majority populated territory to a Hindu dominated region is a dangerous path.

“A regional instability will be an imminent outcome if this is not checked,” it added.

It further stated that the human rights violations are visible and well recorded, adding that the brutality and injustice is glaring enough for the UN to step in. India’s atrocities if not halted will be a legitimate retaliation from the oppressed, it added.

The MAPIM further stated that the Indian troops have acted beyond the rules of the standard international law to claim that India was to weed out so-called terrorists.

Under the pretext of the so-called crackdown operation to take down terrorists, it added that India is executing extra-judicial murders, torture in custody, and detention without access to legal recourse.

“We register our protest against the Indian authorities that has launched an operation to crush voices of dissent, curtail rights to demand for freedom and human rights of the Kashmiris,” it added.

It stated that the extrajudicial killings and collective punishment by barbaric raids on homes and setting ablaze houses by Indian troops cannot be allowed to persist and those responsible go unpunished.

“India must be held fully responsible to the atrocities and crimes against humanity in the IIOJ&K,” it demanded, adding that its appetite to lunch a full genocide operation in the disputed territory is emboldened by the support it received from Israel and the US.

It further stated: “Despite the gross inhumanity suffered by the Kashmiris, we do not comprehend the lackadaisical attitude of the UN. While communications and resolutions were declared in recent years with full documented reports of the situation in the IIOJ&K, no change seems to be any where close to peace and justice.”

“What more do the UN want to learn before the genocide of the whole population of Kashmir will be executed by the Hindutva agenda of the BJP-RSS regime? The pervasive incidents of attacks on Kashmir civilians on a daily basis is well documented. UN should respond with a greater weight to stop India’s aggression,” it further demanded, adding that an effective diplomatic pressure and the courage to take firm action against India must be launched.

“We condemn the unimpeded violation of the legal rights of the detainees of conscience of Kashmiris under the BJP-RSS regime. We take note seriously the impending sentencing of Ms Aasiya Andrabi, leader of the largest Kashmir women’s human rights organization, Dukhtaran-e-Millat, who has been falsely charged without due course of the law. Since her detention in 1992 and incarcerated for 15 years, the Indian court has denied her for a proper legal counselor,” it added.

“We demand the UN to intervene in the case of Ms Aasiya Andrabi and her associates to ensure protection of their human rights and torture in custody. The concocted charges against Ms Andrabi must be dropped and she should be released unconditionally,” it demanded, adding that India must end all persecutions on Kashmir political dissenters and human rights activists and those apprehended without charge must be released.

It further demanded that Indian security officials must be investigated to identify those responsible for the violent attacks on Kashmir civilians, adding that the draconian laws intended to crush Kashmir political activists and human rights defenders must be revoked.

“UN must intervene to investigate Kashmiris human rights activists reported being tortured, physically and mentally abused under detention in Indian jails,” the MAPIM further demanded.
