ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Wednesday granted bail to Dr Dinshaw Anklesaria in a fake accounts case, but directed he cannot go abroad.

A three-member bench, headed by Justice Umar Ata Bandial, heard the bail plea of Dr Dinshaw Anklesaria and Jamil Baloch in the fake accounts scam.

The bench asked Dr Dinshaw to cooperate with the NAB investigators.

The prosecutor general NAB did not oppose the bail application of Dr Dinshaw.

He informed that Zain Malik, head of the private housing society, Bahria Town, has been granted time till February 15 for producing NOC regarding allotment of plots in Bagh-e-Jinnah, Karachi, to the housing society.

The prosecutor said if Zain Malik is unable to produce the NOC then the anti-graft body will take action against him.

Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi noted that the NAB arrested the government officials but spared the main accused.

He questioned why the NAB, so far, has not arrested the main accused in this case.

He said if the NAB does not want to follow the law then make changes in Section 9 of the National Accountability Ordinance, 1999.

The prosecutor general informed that the accused are arrested and produced before the court within 24 hours. Justice Bandial said they had read the report about recovery of billions of rupees by the NAB.

He said accountability should be in accordance with the law, adding, if it will not be done then the Court will take action against the NAB.

Dr Dinshaw Anklesaria, an accountant of Park Lane Estate Company, and Jamil Baloch, director KDA, were arrested in the fake bank accounts case.

The NAB alleged that Anklesaria being an advisor of the chief minister had sent two applications signed by him regarding allotment of plots in Bagh-e-Jinnah, Karachi.

The NAB’s stance is that it was in the knowledge of Anklesaria that the land was property of Bagh-e-Jinnah, Karachi.

About Jamil Baloch, the NAB stated that the letter over which land was allotted had been written by Baloch.

It added that during the investigation, Baloch had informed investigators about different records.

According to the NAB, Dr Dinshaw Anklesaria is also facing charges of taking a loan on forged documents.

He is also said to be involved in benefiting Park Lane Company through fake bank accounts.
